First post revisited
Posted on March 30th, 2008 1 commentI was looking back over what has been said on the site since I started posting (not as frequently as I should tbh) and I noticed the first post I made, where we were discussing the initial pricing and how Sony were going to face off against Microsoft.

A quick look back… Then onward to infinity and beyond!
Posted on January 2nd, 2008 No commentsWith all the other game sites looking at the best and the worst moments in gaming throughout ‘07, we thought we’d take a different tact, we’d look at where we were right, admit where we were wrong and then use Mikes bald head as a crystal ball and predict the major points of ‘08.
Where we were right in ‘07 :-
Who called the free repairs for all? We did that’s right… While everyone else was still whining about the failure rate maybe a little high, we were looking at the info corolating it and predicting it was going to cost MicroShaft a shed load of green. What did Micro$oft do? Extend the 360 warranty to 3 years and set aside roughly $1.5 billion to deal with 360’s that Red Ring of Death’d (RROD).
We were right about the Halo shorts being used as tech demo exercises to promote the movie to film execs, though apparently they were to hype Halo 3, except they came out after the game had been completed by most hardcore players on Legendary.
Viva Pinata Animals was predicted to be a dog of a game, such a waste of a good franchise.
And I’m sad to say Mike was right about Wii sales being maintained :-S Read the rest of this entry »

360 warranty extended to 3 years for the rings of death
Posted on July 5th, 2007 3 commentsWell it had to happen, back in May we called out Microsofts 360 for being a dead machine playing in fact here’s a couple of quotes from the article:-

Ring of Death Endemic to 360
Posted on June 28th, 2007 No comments
Micromart a console repair company in the UK have recently announced via their website that they are no longer repairing Xbox 360s’ that have the Ring of Death, the influx of machines was so great that they couldn’t keep up with the load, and have now stated that it is endemic (to save you looking it up it’s “characteristic of”, or “prevalent in”) the 360. Free repairs for all?
Posted on June 13th, 2007 1 commentMicrosoft have pretty much opened themselves to litigation by anyone who wants to make themselves a name or a few pennies by installing a new heatsink in xbox 360s, at the moment the new dual layout has only been witnessed in consoles that have have seen the rings of death and have then been returned to Microsoft for repair.
We’ll be keeping our eyes open for further news on these dual cooling systems, but if they become as widespread as we think they are going to be we wouldn’t be suprised if Microsoft is going to have to offer the repairs for free in the near future as by implimenting this new system they have pretty much admitted to a systemic fault within the construction of the unit (or simply put the machines weren’t fit for purpose when sold).

PS3, The Good, The Bad, the Ugly and the Uglier
Posted on April 18th, 2007 No commentsDoom and gloom over the Sony’s PS3 is a favorite sport lately, we want to play too! since one of our favourite things is to try to predict the future of the gaming industry(rather accurately I might add) we’d like to put a spin on the ugly situation Sony Entertainment will be faced with in this financial year that will end March 2008. Oh we also like to see bloated pompus companies fall flat on their smug faces but that’s just a fringe benefit…look out Nintendo y o u a r e n e x t! mouhaha
THE BAD
Japanese Nikkei newspaper and other Japanese sources are saying the PS3 has sold 3 million units worldwide since it’s November ‘06 release, that seems ok because it’s lots of zeros unfortunately Sony has put 5-6 million(accounts vary) PS3’s into the worldwide sales channel*, that means the channel is SATURATED, Read the rest of this entry »
